Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 June 2026

This policy covers the SVX Portal mobile apps published by RF.Guru — for Android, iPhone and iPad. These apps are a read-only companion to the live reflector portal: they show who is talking on a map and list, and let you listen to one talkgroup at a time. They do not transmit, do not use your microphone, and require no account or login.

Who we are

The developer of the SVX Portal apps is RF.Guru (rf.guru), a trademark of Dielectricum. For privacy questions, contact info@rf.guru. For general support, use our contact page.

1. What the app does — and does not — collect

No account, no identity. The app does not ask for your call sign, email address or any sign-in. There is nothing to register.

No microphone, no transmit. The app is receive-only. It plays live audio from the reflector but never captures or sends audio from your device.

Location. When you enable it, the app uses the platform location service (Google Play services on Android, Core Location on Apple platforms) to centre the map near you. Location is used on-device for the map view only — it is not transmitted to the reflector, not sent to RF.Guru, and not stored anywhere off your device. You can decline or disable the location permission at any time; the app keeps working without it.

Settings. Your preferences (server URLs, talkgroup and call-sign reference data, display options) are stored locally on your device.

The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs, and collects no device identifiers, advertising IDs, contacts, photos, files, SMS or call logs.

2. Where data goes

The live portal & feed. To show activity and play audio, the app connects to the reflector portal and its live data/audio feed (operated by RF.Guru or by whoever you configured). These connections carry only what any web/streaming client sends — principally your IP address and the talkgroup you chose to listen to. They do not carry personal identifiers, because the app holds none.

Reference data. The app fetches public reference data (talkgroup names, call-sign hints) as static resources. These requests include no personal information beyond your IP address, as with any web request.

Platform location services. If you enable location, resolving it uses your operating system's location provider, and that provider's privacy policy applies (e.g. Google on Android, Apple on iPhone and iPad).

RF.Guru does not operate a backend that profiles you or stores your personal data. Data leaves your device only to the destinations above.

3. Permissions and why they are requested

The app does not request microphone access.

4. Data retention and deletion

All app data lives on your device (settings and cached reference data). No audio is recorded. To delete everything, uninstall the app or clear its data from your platform's app settings.

5. Children

The app is intended for amateur-radio enthusiasts and the general listening public. It is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

6. Security

Connections to the portal and reference data use HTTPS, and the live audio uses a secure WebSocket (WSS). Because no account or personal identity is involved, there are no credentials to protect.

7. Changes to this policy

If material changes are made, the “Last updated” date above will be revised and the new version published at this URL.
